Kelsey Brown is a vocalist, pianist, educator, and arts administrator based out of the South Jersey area. She started singing since she could speak, and began her piano journey at age six. She trained under various teachers for voice, piano, and guitar through high school and undergraduate, and eventually got her Bachelor’s of Arts from Rutgers University - Camden in 2018 as a triple major in Music, Theatre, and Education, graduating summa cum laude. At Rutgers, Kelsey studied under Professor Stefan Orn Arnarson for music, being one of the lead singers of the school’s Performance Ensemble from 2014 - 2018. As part of the Performance Ensemble, she performed multiple Beatles albums with their group, The Beatlemaniacs, including Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver, and Abbey Road. She also starred in multiple theatrical productions under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Elliott, including Romeo and Juliet (Lady Capulet) and Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal).
While pursuing a career in teaching, Kelsey also completed her Masters in Arts in Arts Administration at Rowan University. Through this program, she learned valuable skills in arts budgeting, season planning, donors and giving initiatives, and policy documentation. She graduated in August 2021 summa cum laude. During this time, she also continued in the performing arts, performing at the prestigious musical theatre venue 54 Below in New York City, singing with the No-Name Pops Chorus for their annual Christmas show in 2023 at The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, and acting in multiple musical theatre productions in the tri-state area, including Disenchanted at Players Club of Swarthmore as Snow White and [title of show] at Bootless Stageworks twice, once as Susan Blackwell and a second time as a genderfluid version of Hunter Bell.
Now, Kelsey is focusing all her attention on the music world. By day, she is currently the Corporate Site Director of the Wayne, PA location of Bach to Rock, America’s Music School, utilizing her Arts Administration expertise. By night (and some days, depending on the gig!), she is a gigging musician, playing solo, duo, and some band performances on voice and piano. Carole King, Stevie Nicks, and Paul McCartney are three of her inspirations for music, and she plays a plethora of pop/rock/folk/jazz/country music from the 1950’s - present in her sets. She is a contracted musician through MoBetter Entertainment, which provides entertainment for senior living facilities and rehabilitation centers. She also has done performances with Cape May Entertainment in South Jersey as a solo and duo artist. She is currently seeking gigs for 2025, not only as a solo artist, but as a duo artist with two different groups under The Melodymakers, her duo/band label. She does duo gigs under Kels and Mike of The Melodymakers with her partner, saxophonist Michael R. Dugger, as well as gigs under Kels and Margie of The Melodymakers with her mother, guitarist Margie Reynolds Brown.
